Shriners' rodeo a rip-roarin' success
Khedive Temple in Chesapeake hosted its annual Professional Championship Rodeo fundraiser. The proceeds help offset the cost of maintaining the temple. Local Shrine members paid for just as many rodeo tickets as the public, and then passed out these tickets to disabled or underprivileged children. The Shriners are known for their philanthropy, particularly their 22 hospitals for children. More than 200 children from the Hampton Roads area receive treatment from the Shriners' Hospitals for Children.

LaVaugn Peebles and his son Jeremiah of Chesapeake have attended the Shriners' rodeo for the last four years. This year the Shriners gave Jeremiah's baseball team free tickets.
